Cashmere wool is the underwool fibers from domestic goats (cashmere goats) that live in very cold climates. The name comes from the Kashmir region, which is located in northern India. Cashmere wool is very soft and light. In the spring, when the goats begin to shed their winter wool, they are combed to take care of the downy undercoat while the rest of the wool, the cover hair, is left. The undercoat is washed and all remnants of protective hair are removed. Cashmere is very comfortable against the skin because it is a natural material that breathes and absorbs moisture. Our scarfs are very soft, warm and lightweight. The scarfs are hand-woven by skilled craftswomen in Nepal and they are Fair Trade-labeled.
